Toussaint Louverture camps at Marcail behind Boudet’s division

On 24 March 1802, Toussaint Louverture came to establish himself there behind the division of General Boudet, to the northeast of the Petite Rivière de l’Artibonite, on the road of the Petits-Cahos. He was coming from Plaisance to the relief of the garrison of the Crête-à-Pierrot when, at eight o’clock in the evening, Lamartinière evacuated the fort. Toussaint at once took the road to the quartier of Marquez, in the Petits Cahos.
