Rochambeau’s division settles on Tranquillité for the siege of Crête-à-Pierrot
Haitian
TRANQUILLITÉ. Morne south of the Crête à Pierrot on the right bank of the Artibonite. It belongs to the Cahos. On 22 March 1802, the division of General Rochambeau came to establish itself there for the siege of the fort. The Raque à Vâches lies at the foot of the Tranquillité. In the night of 24 March, when the indigènes evacuated the fort, Colonel Lefèvre, at the head of the 19th light half-brigade, dashed in pursuit of them, but Lamartinière, turning like a furious lion, awaited him at the foot of the morne of the Tranquillité, behind the division of Rochambeau, gave him a desperate battle, and hurled him into the waters of the Artibonite.
Rouzier tells this under the entry TRANQUILLITÉ.
