The Irois surrendered to Pétion, and on the next day, 6 fructidor (23 August), Jérémie surrendered to Dartiguenave, after which Rigaud expelled the émigré regiment of Dessource.

Haitian

During this time Rigaud set out from Les Cayes with his army formed of two divisions, the first under the orders of Brigade Commander Dartiguenave, and the second under the orders of Adjutant-General Pétion. The post of the Irois surrendered on 5 fructidor (20 August) to Pétion; that of Jérémie, on the 6th (23 March), to Dartiguenave (1). Rigaud, faithful observer of the laws of the mother country, held a conduct entirely opposed to that which General Toussaint had held in the West; he would suffer the presence of no émigré. The regiment of Dessource, composed of seven hundred and thirty-five men, among them twenty-nine officers, almost all whites, was obliged to leave Jérémie; it landed at Saint-Marc on 8 fructidor (25 August) (1).
