The French land in good order at Léogane
Haitian
The French came in good order on 21 December 1802 to land at Léogane. During their landing, most of the women of Léogane had fled that town and had withdrawn to Sarrebouse under the protection of Cangé. This habitation, since the beginning of the insurrection, resembled a small town. There was a chapel where a woman named Guillaume sang canticles every day and taught the children the precepts of religion. There was also an abundant market where the cultivators of the mornes and of the plain gathered. On Sundays all kinds of African dances were performed there.
Rouzier tells this under the entry SARREBOUSSE.
