Steamer Mamel bombards the Nordistes at the Rivière Salée

By flooding with fresh water the saline lands unfit for vegetation, certain crops will be made possible there, to the great advantage of the country. On 21 January 1889 the steamer Mamel bombarded the Northerners encamped at the Salée River.
