Hinche falls to the Government
Haitian
In 1888, at the time of the insurrection of the Northerners, Hinche went over to the insurgents. Closely hemmed in at Mamon, they believed themselves invulnerable. The town was besieged by General Anselme Prophète, Minister of War, and fell into the power of the Government on 23 January 1889. An order of the day of General Prophète, announcing this feat of arms, bears that date.
Rouzier tells this under the entry HINCHE.
