Soulouque enters Azua

Haitian

Soulouque, president, made his entry into Azua on 6 April 1849 and halted there, complaining of the intrigues of the French in favor of the Dominicans. On 5 April 1849 Geffrard was struck by a bullet in the leg before Azua.

Rouzier tells this under the entry Azua de Compostela.
