Senate law put Momance up for sale to create a national currency
Haitian
MOMANCE. Sugar habitation in the commune of Léogane, between that town and Gressier. It was put up for sale by the law of the Senate of 16 March 1812 for the creation of a national currency. By the law of 4 November of the same year, the Senate awarded this habitation, as a national gift, to President Pétion, together with the land known under the name of Saint Meunin that formerly belonged to this habitation, in consideration of the damage caused by the Grande Rivière to the plantations.
Rouzier tells this under the entry MOMANCE.
