Sarrazin fights the independents at the gates of Les Anglais

Haitian

On 11 March 1803 there was a fierce combat at the gates of the Anglais between the French General Sarrazin, at the head of the 14th, going from Tiburon to the Cayes by order of Rochambeau, and the independents, gathered in great numbers but almost all without arms. General Sarazin attacked them with fury. The indigènes rained a hail of stones on the French. Captain Monvoisin, at the head of the grenadiers, was the first to seize the entrenchments. The indigènes took flight. At seven o’clock in the morning Sarrazin held the place.

Rouzier tells this under the entry ANGLAIS [les].
