Laplume waits in vain for Sarrazin at Welche Taverny

Haitian

WELCHE TAVERNY. Habitation between the Anglais and the Cayes, near Torbeck, where General Laplume waited in vain, on 12 March 1803, for General Sarrazin, who was marching to the relief of the Cayes during the general insurrection of the indigènes. Fearing to be surrounded by the insurgents, Laplume returned to the Cayes.

Rouzier tells this under the entry WELCHE TAVERNY.
