Saltrou and Marigot sacked on Toussaint’s order

Haitian

HISTORY. Toussaint Louverture, uneasy at the neutrality of Beauvais at Jacmel during the civil war against Rigaud, has Saltrou and Marigot seized and sacked on 11 July 1799 by Mamzelle and Joseph Aquart. Many innocent and inoffensive men were massacred there.

Rouzier tells this under the entry MARIGOT.
