Salnave orders the town burned from Fort Bourgeois

Haitian

On 9 November 1865, at 5 o’clock in the evening, Salnave, seeing that he could not resist the attacks of the government troops and the English cannon, distributed torches at the Bourgeois fort to the men of his escort, with orders to set fire to the town. (Government Bulletin.)

Rouzier tells this under the entry Bourgeois.
