Salnave halts at Garnier and tries the road south of the Etang Salé

Haitian

On 22 December 1869, President Salnave, after leaving Fond-Parisien, and fleeing the revolution of the Cacos triumphant at Port-au-Prince, halted on the habitation Garnier. There he hesitated for a moment and ended by taking the road that runs along the Etang Salé to the south. Unable to cross the post of Limon, he came back on the 23rd to Garnier. Disbandment then set in among the ranks. He takes the road that leads to Barahona, followed by five of his most devoted lieutenants. Closely pressed by the Dominican General Cabral, they are taken prisoner on 10 January 1870 at the Anses-à-Pitre.

Rouzier tells this under the entry Garnier.
