Saint-Fleur Paul takes Ennery from the Northerners
Haitian
On 23 April 1889, General Saint-Fleur Paul crossed the mornes of the Marmelade and seized Ennery from the Northerners after a combat of five hours. Unfortunately this success scattered the forces of the 2nd army corps of the West, commanded by the secretary of State for the Interior, General O. Piquant, to whom President Légitime had sent the order at Dessalines to concentrate his forces rather against Saint-Marc and Gonaïves. This success cost the 2nd army corps dearly; its commander in chief was soon surrounded in Dessalines and owed his safety only to flight. The rout stopped only at Port-au-Prince.
Rouzier tells this under the entry Ennery.
