Rigaud assaults the fort of Les Irois again without result

On 20 April 1797 Rigaud again delivered several assaults on the fort of the Irois without result. He then invested it on all sides and continued to cannonade it. But the brisk fire maintained by the English frigate the Magicienne, moored not far from the shore, forced Rigaud to withdraw. He did not lose heart. He returned the next day during the night and delivered several assaults. The English overthrew him again.
