Revolutionary army takes the offensive; Soulouque hurries back to Port-au-Prince
Haitian
Emperor Soulouque went to wait at Camp Mary for Geffrard’s troops, without success, from the 3rd to the 8th of January 1859. From that day, the revolutionary army took the offensive and the emperor hastily returned to Port au Prince. A position fortified by nature.
Rouzier tells this under the entry MARY.
