Ranquite breaks from the Northern insurrection and submits to Légitime
Haitian
On 8 January 1889, Ranquite separated from the insurrection of the Northerners and submitted to the government of President Légitime; it was on this occasion that the provisional government of the North made it a commune by its decree of 3 July 1889. The first citizen to represent this commune at the Constituent Assembly sitting at the Gonaives was Ethéart Guillaume Sam.
Rouzier tells this under the entry RANQUITE.
