Railway rails laid at Leogane

Haitian

The great river of Léogane, or Momance, comes from the same water table, from the same common network, as the Gosseline, the river of Jacmel; it takes its source in the Black Mountains of the Morne la Selle, and is formed by the joining of 3 watercourses. It waters the plain of Léogane, as does the Rouillonne. The aborigines called it Yuna and Guaria. Under the presidency of Boisrond Canal, a Frenchman, Mr. E. Gros, sought to obtain the concession of the iron mines of Léogane. On 14 October 1909 the rails of the railway begun at Carrefour five months earlier were laid at Léogane. Engineers: L. Gentil Tippenhauer and Maximilien.

Rouzier tells this under the entry LEOGANE.
