Railway accident nearly kills President Antoine Simon

Haitian

In 1872 General Brice had set up sugar mills there. On 4 July 1909, a Sunday, President Antoine Simon nearly became the victim of an accident on the P. C. S. railway while he was travelling to Gantier to attend the feast of Saint Peter. There were 10 dead and 18 wounded.

Rouzier tells this under the entry MERCERON.
