Provisional government troops defeat Mérisier Jeannis at Piron
Haitian
PIRON. Habitation in the commune of Jacmel between that town and Léogane. Two rivers meet on the main road called the Piron mouth. In November 1878 some insurgents commanded by General Nicolas Jn Baptiste were holding at the Piron mouth. At the appearance of General Cicéron Daguin, dispatched from Jacmel with a detachment, the insurgents took flight. On 27 October 1888 the troops of the provisional government inflicted a defeat there on those of the insurgent Mérisier Jeannis, and entered Jacmel on 1 November.
Rouzier tells this under the entry PIRON.
