Presidential decree creates the Pont Rouge military post

Haitian

PONT ROUGE. First rural section of the commune of Port-au-Prince, parish of Saint Joseph. Rural school. There is an excellent bridge built of stone and brick under the French in 1786 on the road of the Croix-des-Bouquets; it was first called the Larnage bridge. No stream passes beneath it, or, to put it better, the irrigation canal that necessitated its construction has been blocked by the carried-in earth. There are the habitations: Robert, Lagetière. The Pont Rouge is also a military post of the arrondissement of Port-au-Prince. Created by the decree of the president of Haiti of 30 March 1875. Its delimitation is as follows: starting from the Portail Saint Joseph to the shore; following the coast as far as the landing place of the fort Dimanche, including the said fort; going up by the high road that leads to Chancerelle to take the main road as far as the Pont Robert. From there crossing the new road to come out on the high road of Saint-Martin near the ramparts of Port-au-Prince.

Rouzier tells this under the entry PONT ROUGE.
