Poet Paul Laraque is born at Jérémie

Paul Laraque was born at Jérémie on 21 September 1920. He entered the military academy in 1939 and was commissioned in 1941; his postings around the country showed him how the peasantry actually lived, and it changed what he wrote. He died in New York on 8 March 2007.
