Poet and critic Dominique Batraville born in Port-au-Prince

Dominique Batraville was born in Port-au-Prince on 20 February 1962. He declared himself a poet at fifteen, while still a student at the Collège Saint-Martial. He studied at the Free University of Brussels and at Lille, then came home in July 1986, months after Jean-Claude Duvalier fled the country. From 1988 to 2003 he wrote literary criticism for Le Nouvelliste, and he has acted in about a dozen Haitian, Belgian, French and Swiss films. He belongs to PEN-Haïti and to the Association of Caribbean Writers.
