Piquant lands at Grande-Saline and takes it

Haitian

On 24 January 1889, General O. Piquant, minister of the interior, carried out a landing at the Grande-Saline, which he took after a brief resistance. General Colas, commandant of the commune, was taken prisoner and conducted to the capital, where he was imprisoned and degraded. The neighboring populations came in crowds to submit to General Piquant and to swear fidelity to the government of President Légitime. At the beginning of May, however, the Grande-Saline was abandoned by the army of the West, after the defeat of General Piquant at Dessalines. There were 1,200 men commanded by Dardignac, who were transported to the Arcahaie.

Rouzier tells this under the entry Grande-Saline (la).
