Pétion wins over Petit Noël Prière at Héricourt
Haitian
On 14 October 1802 Pétion, after taking up arms at the Haut-du Cap against the French, went to the Morne Rouge, and from there reached the habitation of Héricourt, intending to make for the West if he could not come to terms with the chiefs of the insurgent bands of the North. Suddenly Petit Noël Prière, one of the chiefs of these insurgents, coming down from the mornes of the Soufrière, invaded the habitation of Hericourt with all his bands, and threatened to give Pétion battle. Pétion succeeded in winning him to his cause.
Rouzier tells this under the entry HERICOURT (d’) Petite Place.
