Pétion meets Rigaud at the Miragoâne bridge over the Southern split

Haitian

On 2 December 1810, Pétion had an interview at the Bridge of Miragoâne with Rigaud, on the occasion of the secession of the South, in the presence of the armies of the South and of the West, the latter commanded by Generals Deboa and Gédéon. It was agreed between the two chiefs that if King Christophe attacked the West, the army of the South would march to the relief of Port-au-Prince. Just at that moment, a deputation from Christophe was arriving at Port-au-Prince to propose the union of the West with the North.

Rouzier tells this under the entry PONT de MIRAGOANE [le].
