Petion crosses the Artibonite under fire at Labadie
Haitian
On 11 March 1802, a hundred or so armed cultivators having barred the passage on the banks of the Artibonite to the Boudet division, which was marching from the Verrettes on the Petite Rivière, General Boudet ordered Pétion to cross the river. The latter sprang first into the water, under a hail of bullets, crossed the river opposite the habitation Labadie, raised the ambush, and was followed by the whole Boudet division.
Rouzier tells this under the entry LABADIE.
