Oswald Durand dies in Port-au-Prince
Haitian
Oswald Durand died in Port-au-Prince on 22 April 1906, aged sixty-five. He had been a teacher, a journalist, a politician and above all a poet, and he wrote in Kreyòl when that was not a respectable thing for a man of letters to do. A century later Le Nouvelliste marked the date across its pages.
