Monsignor Morice is consecrated first bishop of Les Cayes

On 30 July 1893 Monsignor Morice received episcopal ordination as the first bishop of Les Cayes. The diocese was young; the Concordat of 1860 had put the Haitian church under a hierarchy staffed almost entirely by French priests, and it stayed that way for generations. Morice held the see until he resigned on 18 June 1914. Haiti would not consecrate a Haitian bishop until Remy Augustin in 1953.
