Moïse attacks Fort Bamby

Haitian

Bamby. Fort situated in front of the Grande-Rivière du Nord on the summit of an almost inaccessible morne. The Spanish had seized it. Moïse, lieutenant of Toussaint-Louverture, attacked this fort on 3 January 1795 and ordered the free troops of Dondon to climb to the assault. The soldiers of this corps, without returning the fire of the enemy, their rifles on their backs, climbed along the morne, through the grapeshot and the bullets of the fortification, which they took at the point of the bayonet.

Rouzier tells this under the entry Bamby.
