Mirault offers Pétion’s hat to Christophe during the battle of Sibert

Haitian

DUVIVIER. On 1 January 1807, during the battle of Sibert, Christophe was leaning against the wall of the Duvivier habitation, on the plain of the Cul de Sac, when squadron chief Barthélemy Mirault appeared before him and held out to him Pétion’s braided hat, saying to him: “Here, general in chief, is the New Year’s gift that I offer you”.

Rouzier tells this under the entry DUVIVIER.
