Mauduit’s regiment lands at Port-Salut
Haitian
History. In 1790, at the time of the revolt of the affranchis of the Cayes on the Prou habitation, Governor M. de Blanchelande sent to the Cayes Mr. de Mauduit with the regiment of Port-au-Prince, of which he was the colonel. The regiment landed at Port-Salut on 28 November, went to the Cayes, and from there to the camp of the Ravine. The affranchis, threatened by superior forces, dispersed. Rigaud and Pinchinat were taken prisoner, and their companions treated with haughtiness.
Rouzier tells this under the entry PORS SALUT (le).
