Makandal burned alive at the Cap

Haitian

On 20 January 1758 Makandal, an African captive, was burned alive on the square of the Cap, in the midst of an immense crowd that he still terrified, although chained to a stake in the middle of the pyre.

Rouzier tells this under the entry Cap-haïtien (le).
