Anse-à-Veau. Acaau delivers a speech there on the feast of Independence.

The same day general Acaau delivered a speech at L’Anse-à-Veau on the occasion of the feast of Independence. He reminded the Haitians, whom he addressed as only our heads of State had ever done, that union made strength. He told them “that Haiti, for three years shaken by troubles owing to a band of factious men, had been on the verge of sinking into the violent division into which those treacherous men had dragged her.”
