Grescier. Reoccupied by captain Durosier; Terlonge arrives there.

General Terlonge, on reaching Gressier at the head of the 3rd regiment, found that hamlet reoccupied by the partisans of the government under the command of captain Durosier, who had managed to gather a good number of the cultivators of the neighborhood. He received artillery by sea from Port-au-Prince, and on 19 September, toward the middle of the night, citizens of Léogane who had fled the revolt came to give him abundant information on the situation of the insurgents. He moved off before daybreak in two columns against Léogane. He entrusted the first, or vanguard, to general Désiré, and took command of the second, or rearguard.
