Le Cap. Pierrot’s order on uniforms is dated here; its 2nd and 30th regiments receive sky-blue lapels.

By an order of President Pierrot, dated at Cap-Haïtien 18 August 1845, the uniform of the troops of the line was fixed for the Department of the West as follows: 3rd regiment, 10th regiment, 11th regiment, 12th regiment: coat of dark-blue cloth for all, and the 1st, 3rd, 10th, 11th and 12th regiments collar and cuffs rose, collar and cuffs royal blue, collar and cuffs green, collar and cuffs yellow; the 1st, 3rd, 11th and 12th were quartered at Port-au-Prince, and the 10th at the Mirebalais; the 21st of Léogâne, coat of dark-blue cloth, collar and cuffs apricot; the 24th of Petit-Goâve, the same coat, collar and cuffs rose; the 22nd of Jacmel, the same coat, collar and cuffs sky blue; the 23rd of Jacmel, the same coat, collar and cuffs the same.

The regiment of artillery and the legion of gendarmerie wore their old uniforms. The cavalry of the West was to wear a red coat. For the Department of the South the uniform was fixed as follows: all the corps having the coat of dark-blue cloth; the 13th regiment of Les Cayes, collar and cuffs amaranth; the 17th of Les Cayes, collar and cuffs red; the 15th of Aquin, collar and cuffs apple green; the 18th of Jérémie, collar and cuffs chocolate; the 19th of L’Anse-d’Hainault, collar and cuffs of dark-green cloth; the 16th of L’Anse-à-Veau, collar and cuffs apricot yellow; the artillery and the gendarmerie kept the old dress. For the Department of the Artibonite the uniform was determined as follows: all the corps wearing the coat of dark-blue cloth. The 7th of Saint-Marc, lapels lilac, collar and cuffs yellow; the 4th of Petite-Rivière de l’Artibonite, lapels and cuff flaps dark green; the 20th of Les Verrettes, collar and cuffs rose; the 14th of Les Gonaïves, collar and cuffs apricot yellow; the 25th of Les Gonaïves, collar and cuffs sky blue; the artillery and the gendarmerie kept their old uniform. For the Department of the North: all the corps having the coat of dark-blue cloth; the 2nd regiment of Cap-Haïtien, lapels sky blue, cuffs and collars green; the 30th of Le Cap, lapels sky blue, collar and cuffs red; the 29th of Fort-Liberté, lapels apricot yellow, collar and cuffs light yellow; the 28th of Le Trou, collar and cuffs red; the 27th of La Grande-Rivière, collar and cuffs apricot; the 26th of Le Borgne, lapels apple green, collar and cuffs sky blue; the 9th of Port-de-Paix, lapels red, cuffs and collar dark blue; the 5th of Le Dondon, collar and cuffs red; the 6th of La Marmelade, collar and cuffs rose; the 31st of Port-Margot, collars and cuffs green; the 32nd of Le Limbé, collar red, lapels dark green, cuffs green. The 33rd regiment was quartered in the arrondissement of the Mirebalais; it wore the coat of dark-blue cloth, collar and cuffs amaranth. The artillery and the gendarmerie of the Department of the North kept their old dress. As for the regiments of infantry, cavalry and artillery of the guard, nothing was changed in their old dress. On 23 August General J. Paul, secretary of state for the Interior and Agriculture, returned from Cap-Haïtien to Port-au-Prince. He announced to the Council of the Secretaries of State that the President of Haiti was resolved to employ the most energetic means for the maintenance of public tranquillity.(i)
