Petite-Rivière de l’Artibonite. Its parish priest Raphael Pisaus pronounces Guerrier’s funeral oration.

The heart and the remains of Guerrier had been interred on 2 May at Fort Lasource, built at the foot of the mornes that close off part of the small plain on which Dessalines-ville stands, in the commune of Petite-Rivière de l’Artibonite. On that occasion the Abbé Raphael Pisaus, parish priest of Petite-Rivière, delivered before a very numerous gathering a funeral oration that was nothing but a string of exaggerated flatteries. He compared Guerrier to Titus, to Marcus Aurelius, to Trajan, to Suleiman, to Aristides, to Epaminondas, to Washington, to Curius Dentatus, to Cincinnatus.
