Haiti. Guerrier takes the oath as its President.

Guerrier, seeing himself proclaimed head of State by the departments of the West, the North, the Artibonite and the South, save for certain reservations on the part of Acaau, resolved to take his oath as President of Haiti, which was done with solemnity on 9 May. Meanwhile Rivière, who had been notified of his deposition and of the nomination of general Guerrier, had left Azua at the head of his army, which pillaged that town from top to bottom and set fire to it on leaving. The Dominicans, entrenched at Savana, came and occupied it.
