Eusebio Puello and Espinosa go there; the rowers, the ship’s boys and their coxswain have scarcely scented them before they put out the light, fire several shots and escape through a window of the hut giving on the sea; they follow the shore and go running to join the Haitians who were at the Force. In withdrawing they had killed one of their own who would not follow them. Puello and Espinosa arrived at the Porte del Conde, where the shots from the port office had caused some alarm; it had been thought that there was fighting there.
