Santo Domingo. Proposed as the seat of a restored University; the question is referred to the next legislature.

At the opening of the sitting of the 23rd, it was proposed to found two Colleges under the name of University, one at Santo-Domingo, thus restoring the old University of that city, and the other at Port-Républicain (Port-au-Prince). In these colleges French, Spanish, English, public law, canon law, medicine and the other branches of public instruction would have been taught. It was decided that these questions would be referred to the next legislature. Then the program of the bases of the Constitution was voted as a whole.
