France. Suspends its demands under the treaty of 1838 until a definitive government is installed in Haiti.

“The undersigned, Consul-General of France, has the honor to announce to the Provisional Government of the Haitian Republic that yesterday, the third of October, he received from His Excellency the Minister of Foreign Affairs an official dispatch informing him that the Government of His Majesty the King of the French, taking into consideration the note of 4 April 1843, the situation of Haiti and the observations presented by the King’s Consul on the subject of that note, consents to suspend every demand for the execution of the Treaty of 12 January 1838 until the installation of the definitive Government in Haiti.
