Port-de-Paix. Lamarre and Panayoty’s fleet arrive

On the evening of his landing he set out, guided by Commandant Jean Martin, to join Colonel Nicolas Louis. He crossed the Bonseigneur plantation and, after three days’ march, reached the Foison plantation at Les Moustiques, where he met Nicolas Louis. From there he went on to Port-de-Paix, into which, on the 9th of July at ten in the evening, sailed the republican fleet commanded by Citizen Panayoty, on board the *Indépendance. Panayoty had under his orders seamen of rare courage, among others Derenoncourt and Jean Gaspard.
