Jacmel. Bonnet named to command it

Continuing to organize the Republic, the Senate decreed on 19 March that the President of Haiti was authorized, for the promotion of superior officers, to present three candidates to the Senate whenever a post fell vacant, and to designate the one of the three he believed most capable. The same day General Bazelais was named general of division and chief of the general staff of the army; General Magloire, general of division commanding the department of the West; General Yayou, general of division commanding the arrondissements of Port-au-Prince and Léogane; Adjudant-General Bonnet, general of brigade commanding the arrondissement of Jacmel; Colonel Lamarre, adjudant-general on active service in the army; Lys, colonel commanding the arrondissement of Port-au-Prince under Yayou’s orders.
