L’Arcahaie. Christophe arrives and has Flambert, Cortad, Bonhomme, Léonore and others arrested

Christophe went to Marchand, where he had several officers of doubtful loyalty arrested, among others a former aide-de-camp of Dessalines named Manuel. He also had Generals Dartiguenave and Cangé arrested; the first was taken to Crête-Rouge, in the North, where he was executed; the second was shot not far from Marchand. He entered Saint-Marc on 26 December 1806, accompanied by Vernet. The 7th demi-brigade and the dragoons of the plain of the Artibonite set out for the Arcahaie. He arrived there himself in the night of the 27th to the 28th, and at once had arrested the battalion commander Flambert, the captain of the port Jean Toussaint Cortad, and the town adjutants Bonhomme and Léonore, together with a host of other officers in whom he had no confidence.
