Le Cap. Christophe publishes a ferry-toll tariff.

Until then the governor-general gave his entire confidence to General Christophe, who, by a strict and intelligent administration, increased the resources of the State in the department of the North from day to day. On 18 May 1804 Christophe published at Le Cap a tariff that fixed the collection of the toll for the ferry established on the river of the Haut-du-Cap; he regularized an admirable system of leasing, and he thwarted smuggling so thoroughly, by the most violent means, that he made it impossible.
