Montalibon. Christophe offered Hardy an interview there, in the center of the lines of the two armies

On 2 Floréal, Year 10 (22 April), Christophe, who was indignant at the proposal Leclerc had made to him to deliver up Toussaint Louverture, answered Hardy that he would have consented to the interview Hardy sought, not only at Vaudreuil but at La Petite-Anse and at Le Cap, had the captain-general not awakened his distrust by proposing to him an act of perfidy and cowardice. He offered him an interview at Montalibon, a plantation in the center of the lines of the two armies. The same day, 2 Floréal (22 April), from his headquarters at Robillard in the Grand Boucan, he addressed the following letter to Leclerc:
