Petit-Goave. Evacuated by Pétion on the night of 2 May; Faubert burns houses and the administration building.

On the evening of 2 May Pétion, having recognized that he could not hold Petit-Goâve, opened at eight o’clock a sustained musketry fire that forced Dessalines to stay on the defensive. At ten o’clock he evacuated the town, leaving Colonel Faubert there with 200 men. Faubert had fire set to several private houses and to the administration building, which were consumed with all the produce stored in them.
