On 15 Nivôse (4 January) Toussaint had all the positions carried that protected the important fortification of Charles Sec, so as to attack it the more easily. A detachment took the camp Nayo, set up on a morne; Thomas André took the camp Gomez; Paparel, the camp Boispin; Dessalines, the camp Denis at the Giromond; Captain Noël, the camps Gilette, Rateau, Delaunay and Jourdan, in the mountain of Caracol.
