Roque. Attacked or taken by the Republicans in the Grande-Rivière campaign.

On 1 January 1795 (12 Nivôse, Year 3), at daybreak, two Republican columns commanded by Captain Médor and by Dessalines came out of the camp Flamin. The latter reached the Crête-Plate, where he took many prisoners, and the former took the camp Roque. The same day Toussaint and Captain Laurent marched against Fort Saint-Malo, stormed it headlong and carried it with the bayonet. Laurent at once rushed toward the Boispin to relieve the other columns, which were being assailed by the Spaniards of the camps Cormine, Bense, Salenave and Dupuis. These camps were taken and given to the flames. But at nightfall the Republican troops, harassed on every side, fell back on headquarters.
