Lieutenant Bonicias Perard is shot at La Saline for refusing to name names
Haitian
On the night of Sunday 12 December 1937 a group of officers tried to kill President Stenio Vincent. The plot failed. Bonicias Perard, a lieutenant of the Garde d’Haiti, was condemned for his part in it. On this day he was taken to the firing range at La Saline and executed. He had been given the chance to save himself by naming his accomplices and refused. This was months after Vincent had swallowed the Dominican massacre of thousands of Haitian cane workers on the Massacre River and settled for a cash payment; the men who tried to shoot him had reasons.
